I write about culture, social issues & business with a focus on Germany & Europe. I contribute/d stories to the Los Angeles Times, WWD, Flair & Spiegel Online, & broadcast reports & features for NPR, Monocle24, PRI's The World, the BBC, Deutsche Welle & Radio Netherlands Worldwide. I spent 10 years at NPR headquarters in Washington, DC as a producer, editor & reporter before relocating to Germany for a Bosch Foundation Fellowship. My radio stories won a RIAS Award in 2009 for reporting on Germany, & I served on the RIAS Media Prize Jury 2017-2020. New in Winter 2021: A BBC Documentary on the history of the CARE package presented & co-reported by me & reported & produced by BBC Producer Sabine Schereck.
